Pastor’s update, March 25

Hello Grace UMC!

Tonight will be our last Wednesday evening supper and worship during Lent. A big thank you goes out to Iretta S., Nancy H., Sandy S., Jean W., and Esther V. for helping to make and serve soup, Paul A. for providing the bread, and to everyone who made cookies, bars, and desserts! Please be sure to offer your thanks when you see them. If you haven’t been able to make it for supper and worship, make tonight the night to be here!

3 Things to Know

1. Palms, Pancakes, Pictures!

Join us this Sunday for worship at 10 am, then stick around for a pancake breakfast, an Easter-themed photo booth, and an egg hunt for the kiddos. Invite your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers (whoever you can think of) to join us, and you can use this link to share on Facebook. A free-will offering will be taken during breakfast, with funds going towards restoring the roof of Grace UMC. If you can help with pancakes, serving, or clean up, please sign up at the Connection Center or contact Pastor Taylor.

2. Holy Week Worship Schedule

At the conclusion of our Lenten journey, we walk through Holy Week, a time where our focus moves away from self-examination to encounter the deep love of God through Jesus’s serving and sacrifice. There will be no Wednesday night supper or worship on April 1st, but we will have worship on Friday, April 3rd, at 6 pm. We will remember the Last Supper with Holy Communion and reflect upon the sacrifice of Christ for us all. While schedules get busy, consider making plans for this important moment in the life of the church. Then make plans to join us for Easter Sunday worship on April 5th at 10:00 am, where we’ll praise the resurrected Christ, take Holy Communion together, and celebrate through the gift of community!

3. The Chosen TV Series Group

You’re invited to something new at Grace! Starting April 8 at 5:00 pm, we’ll gather on Wednesday evenings for a short-term small group centered around the powerful series The Chosen. Each week, we’ll watch an episode together and spend time in relaxed, meaningful conversation as we reflect on the life and ministry of Jesus. Whether you’ve seen the series before or are brand new to it, this is a great opportunity to grow in faith, ask questions, and connect with others in community. Come as you are, no preparation needed. Just bring yourself and a friend or two! Dinner and childcare will also be provided. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with Pastor Taylor to RSVP or with any questions.

Worship This Week

Wednesday Evening- As we approach Holy Week, we know Jesus’ journey is going to be challenging. How do we prepare for challenges ahead? We’ll talk about it and take communion with one another tonight at 6pm

Sunday Morning- We will continue our sermon series, “From Wilderness to Glory,” looking at Luke 19:28-40, with Jesus In The City. The crowd will shout, “Hosanna!” one day and “crucify him!” on another. Jesus knows this city is significant in his journey and has much to say not only about the glory of God but also about the reality of the human heart. Join us in-person and online at 10:00 am for a time of worship with communion as well.
